Recently, El Salvador’s parliament approved legislation allowing large financial institutions to apply for licenses to provide digital asset services. Meanwhile, the country’s Bitcoin Office continues its daily 1 BTC purchase program, though IMF reports previously claimed such acquisitions had been suspended. Bukele denied these claims, reaffirming his country’s commitment to Bitcoin.
🔎 El Salvador’s consistent Bitcoin adoption makes it a key model for emerging markets exploring digital currencies.
Bitcoin Whales Sell $12.7 Billion in a Month
In the past month, Bitcoin whales sold approximately $12.7 billion (114,920 BTC), marking the largest whale selling wave since July 2022.
According to CryptoQuant, this selling pressure pushed BTC below $108,000, though selling has slowed in recent days. During the week of September 3, 95,000 BTC were moved, compared to 38,000 BTC as of September 6.
Nick Ruck, Director at LVRG Research, highlighted that while whale activity increased short-term volatility, ETF demand and institutional accumulation have helped maintain market resilience.
📊 While whale moves may trigger short-term pullbacks, the long-term outlook remains bullish.
